well i thought it normaly takes a season and i destroy a rod bag allways the zips go trying to cram to much stuff in there, well i thought i might as well spend a bit more on a rod bag(because last season bag the zips have gone) so i can get everything in easy,so bought myself a wychwood solace takes 6 made up rods, well i have only used a couple of times out, but i am very impressed with it,lets see how long the zips last on this one

Drennan super specialist quiver

Had my two rod version 8 years ( i think, certainly longer than 6) now and for my day fishing itis perfect its one for the minimal approach

Two rods plus six sticks net wavelock etc at a push and it does four rods

All for less than 20 quid

I am a big fan of fox gear (exclduing clothing)
The 5 rods and the 3 stratos reels are top notch.

Stratos reels had a bad reputation when first released, but when you read into the reviews most of these surrounded their use with braid as opposed to mono.

As 90% of my deadbaiting is done with mono it was worth a shot and so far no problems.
I'll use my cardinal 507i's for braid though these are a touch on the heavy side when used in conjunction with my nash 3.5's.

it's funny how all your stuff falls to bits at the same time, been looking and found what i wanted on e bay rod bag, ruck sack ,bag and you get an unhooking mat as well, des taylor carp tackle 4 piece.now being a tight git i only paid 40 for it and i am well impressed with it,there are a few things but i put it down to the reason i am use to my old stuff, opening for the ruck sack a bit small, rod bag handle a bit short.now having got i think the rrp of 64.99 is a bargin

The Kelbrick one is ace, Some of the fox stuff is quality but a lot of it is rubbish. The most annoying thing about fox though is discontinuing items.

That's good to hear Tel, I used to be Fox's greatest customer then hit a spate of reliability issues, RX3 receiver went down, Alarm packed up (They fixed it for 28 + postage, Swing arm line gates broke, The 40 trousers washed like they were from primark .

It hasn't totally put me off but I'm more choosy now picking fox items, I still have 7 fox rods, 8 including the Kelbrick and fox luggage including rod holdall.

Had the misfortune to damage the bait runner lever on one of my Fox Stratos reels recently while on a barbel hunt.
I contacted Fox customer services who asked me to send them the damaged item.
Received a new replacement part today, that's a 2 day turn around from my posting the part to them and no charge other than my original postage to them.

They don't often get good press for a variety of reasons, but I thought it worth mentioning, Fox impressed me with their service this time.

zander at dawn dvd

i purchased this dvd from the pac conference and watched it as soon as i got back priced at 4 on the day it was an oppertunity not to be missed as there is not many DVDs on the market that are aimed at zander so in reality its just 1 for the collection that im growing

it was made in 2002
the film starts out by zandavan leaving his home in shropshire setting out on a zander trip the next scene shows the van being driven down the banks of a well known drain which i know for a fact that this should not be done and also on the next drain that he fishes he also mentions some areas as hes driving along the drain there is a fair amount of fish action within the DVD where he catches zander to 14lb and a pike of 19lb 8oz ( which he looks scared of)

fish handling is aweful really with him standing up holding nearly all the fish the 19lb pike was even dropped as he carried it back to the water

he introduces his version of a hair rig still using a treble for the hook for zander as and i quote from the DVD "he dont like hooking zander in the throat " which i think every predator angler will agree with but at the same time he does leave any runs he gets to long before pulling into the fish

all in all a pretty poor dvd but as its aimed at zander im going to give it 6 /10

Memacca,

That's good to hear as I'm in the process of ordering one of these. I want it for trolling and deadbaiting from a boat and like you say small waters.
