Be super careful with only 55lb any snarl ups on the reel during a full force cast with a 100g lure will result in a crack off and bye bye lure
Next time you spool up go 80lb+

Thing is if u snag 33lb wire will snap before your mainline i assume u will be using at least 50-80lb braid ?
Stay-loc clips i buy from Dave lumb

Ok thanks for the advice. I will get some stronger wire and have a look for the clips. Most of my lures are under 50g with the odd rubber one over 100g. Hoping to be lure fishing trout waters for pike regularly from now on.

33lb ish id be a bit dubious.
My home made solid single strand leaders are 200lb+ stainless and they can get a bit beat up after a while.
Allso not a fan of crosslocs stringease stay-loc clips for me all round tiny little ones for bait traces/fly fishing and larger ones for lures.
All depends on what you call a 'big' lure i suppose.

Im going to order some savage gear 50cm 15kg wire traces with cross lock clip. Will these do for casting big lures? Usualy make my own traces when deadbaiting so not sure what there like.
