If fishing rivers or snags I use 35lb spot braid so when I snag I will straighten hooks before I snap the thought of leaving a baited rig behind frightens me.
Your rods will be fine. But might struggle chucking big baits any distance but most piking done close in anyway

Will only be using small deadbaits hoping these rods will cope. Theyre my carp rods too just thought theyd double up for canal pike

Ok mate ta for that. There are plenty of ares that are pretty reed lined but also a lot of structured ares not so snaggy.

many years ago (back in the 70s) I started my pike fishing off with 10ft 1 .5lb tc rods and caught plenty of fish . But saying that you might struggle if there are a lot of reeds lining the banks

Can i use these on my local canal for piking?? Are they good enough theyre my usual carp rods
